Ernest Benach

Ernest has joined VINCES to lead the Catalonia office and develop the implementation of Vinces by  consolidating the dialogue between the public sector, civil society and the private sector.

Ernest has an extensive background in the public sector: President of the Parliament of Catalonia from 2003 to 2010 and Member of Parliament from 1992 to 2010, President of the Conference of European Regional Legislative Assemblies (CALRE) in 2005, and Councillor and 1st Deputy Mayor of the City Council of Reus from 1987 to 2001. In addition to his knowledge on parliamentary  and local politics, he has an extensive experience in the field of communication. He is also a professor of Political Communication at the University of Lleida and at the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya, as well as providing advised to several companies in this area. He was declared an Illustrious Son of Reus, and the Generalitat awarded him with the ”Creu de Sant Jordi” (Saint George Cross).
