After an extensive career in national and European politics, Carlos Carnero joins Vinces as Senior Advisor to provide strategic advice in the political, regulatory and social areas, with a special focus on the European sphere.
Carlos has extensive experience in public service. At the European level, he was a Member of the European Parliament for the Spanish Socialist Workers’ Party from 1994 to 2009. He was also a member of the convention that drafted the European Constitution, of the Committees on Foreign Affairs, Constitutional Affairs, International Trade and Development as well as Socialist spokesperson in the Euro-Mediterranean Parliamentary Assembly. At the national level, he was a member of the Assembly of Madrid, where he was chairman of the Study Commission for the recovery and promotion of economic and social activity in the Community of Madrid and spokesman for the Socialist Group on economics.
Among other relevant positions, he has been Spanish ambassador on special mission for projects in the framework of European integration, member of the Advisory Council for European Affairs of the Community of Madrid, member of the presidency of the European Socialist Party and managing director of the “Fundación Alternativas”.
He is currently a member of the Scientific Council of the Elcano Royal Institute and teaches at various academic institutions such as the CEU San Pablo University, Deusto Business School and the Diplomatic School.
